Did you have a dream about leaving?
Because I did.

One night I closed my eyes
and I washed up on the beach
that beach had fog
it was so cold
and the rain
the rain wouldn't stop
and it was so windy
but inside, I didn't feel anything

When I was there, I put my feet in the sand
and I started sinking
and I went further
and further down
and I still couldn't walk
and the tide came in
and it creeped around my ankles
all I felt was foam
and that sinking feeling
of survival
all I knew
was that I had to go
but I'm not sure why

Sometimes I go back to that beach
and I stick my feet in the sand
and I watch the tide roll in
it comes for me
it never takes me
I just grow cold inside
and I couldn't tell you why

Is it a dream?
I don't know?
And if it is,
could I please wake up?
I don't know where I am

Sometimes the sun shines
Sometimes the clouds come in
and I'm stuck
looking up at the sky
and I ask

How did I get here?
Did I wake up?
Or am I just in some place I just don't know

We're too uncertain sometimes
But don't ask me about it
I offer no answers

Did you ever have a dream?
Because I want to hear it.
